Vast, Quiet and Green
Right outside De Kruishoeve’s door, the polder landscape begins — one of the best-preserved open landscapes on the Belgian coast. Here you cycle along meadows, hearing only the wind and the birds, with the church tower of Klemskerke as the sole interruption on the horizon.
Uitkerkse Polders
The Uitkerkse Polders nature reserve is one of the most important bird areas in Flanders. Ideal for walkers and birdwatchers, with signposted paths and viewpoints. In spring, rare meadow birds breed here.
Dune Forests
The dune forests of De Haan connect the seaside resort to Wenduine via an unbroken green ribbon. Walk or cycle among the pines, along sandy paths that lead to the beach.
Cycling and Walking Routes
The region boasts an extensive junction network for cyclists and walkers. Plan your own route using the junction signposts and discover the coastal hinterland.
